Come Out and Support the Milton Eagles
Come out and support your Milton Eagles for their regional tournament games. Both the Girls and Boys teams will host play in games next week on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively. These games are for the opportunity to return to the State Tournament or clean out our lockers. We have the best fans in the region and we need your support next week.

Royal/Milton Honored
Julian Royal was named to the top ten for the Class of 2011 by Athlon Magazine.   Milton HS is the only school in Georgia to be named a National School of Excellence for 2008. 

In other news: Coaches from Georegtown, Va. Tech, UGA, Ga. Tech, Ga. State, and South Carolina have watched our players workout at Milton.  UNC visits Monday, September 22nd..

Mandatory Meeting - Wed, August 27th
Meeting for boys basketball this Wednesday, Aug. 27th, right after school in Coach Boyd’s trailer 113.  It is mandatory!

Verizon Concession Opportunity
Once again Milton Basketball has an opportunity to work the concessions at the John Mayer Concert on  Aug 29th... This concert is already sold out, totaling 12,000 people!  We will need approx 25 more volunteers for this date.... If you are available please respond to Ali Littley or Veronica Brundage. Thank you to everyone who helped out at the last two concerts and supported the Milton Basketball program. 

Coach Dankosky Now At Milton HS
Coach Dankosky has been added as a teacher to Milton High School.  We’re glad to have him on board! 

VMI Offers Scholarship to Erik Schuelke
Erik Schuelke, a senior at Milton, has been offered a scholarship by VMI, a D-I school that has lead the nation in scoring the last two years.  This should be the first of many for Erik, who was the second leading scorer last year behind Julian Royal. Hard work always pays off. 

Evan Nolte Update
Evan Nolte, a rising 6'5" freshman from Milton, lead his 14 U Southern Stars AAU team to a 3-0 pool play record at the 14 U AAU national championship tournament in Orlando, Fla.  Evan was recently added to UGA's player prospect data base by head coach Dennis Felton.

NEW! Milton player gets national recognition:  Evan Nolte, a freshman was named the 25th best player on the hoopscoop report in the 14 U category.

Milton Athletics Red and Silver Ball, Sept 6th, 2008
This will be the fourth year of the RED and SILVER BALL and each sport has the potential to raise huge money for their program.

The Ball will take place Saturday, Sept. 6th, at the Alpharetta Marriott, from 6 until midnight. This event is for Adults only. There will be a Silent and Live Auction, cash bar, great food, and Music entertainment.

Here is how is works: Our Basketball program is responsible for $2000.00 to help cover the cost of the event. After that, all money brought in by basketball players and families will go directy to our basketball program. This includes Money from: Tickets, donated auction items, and sponsor dontions. All donations are tax deductable. Sponsor and Donation forms will be sent to you by e-mail.

We have even offered Basketball incentives for basketball parents to participate. Please check the forms that your players have brought home, or the e-mail that you will receive shortly from the Program.

Start now to find auction items. These can be anything of value from jewelry, gift certificates, appliances, vacation home rental for a week, Braves or Hawks tickets, even a puppy! Anything you think people will want to bid on and earn our program the donation.

Fundraiser: Concessions at the New Verizon Amphitheater
On Aug. 8th, Milton Basketball has the chance once again, to raise money for our program. We need 15 parents and 15 players to work the concessions at the New Verizon Amphitheater.

Please contact Veronica Brundage at 770-403-1842 or Vbrundage@alpharetta.ga.us if you will be able to work. She can give you more information regarding times and parking for this event. Please come out and support your program while listening to great music!!

UGA's Coach Felton at Milton
Coach Dennis Felton attended Milton's last workout of the summer and watched a competitive and spirited workout culminating with a scrimmage.  Coach Felton, among other things, added Evan Nolte's name to the the UGA recruiting data base the next day. He was also very impressed with our ninth and tenth grade players, and felt that our senior group has potential. 

All 9th grade, JV, and varsity basketball players should report to Milton by 10:00am to help teachers move stuff. 

Milton Coach's Son In Final, Plus 17U AAU Updates
Chase Coleman's 14U Georgia Fastbreak lost in the 15 U Championship game in the NAYBA Nationals on Sunday.  Chase was selected to the All Tournament Team. He has been invited to participate in the Adidas Showcase at the end of the month.  Chase will be a freshman at Milton this year.

In other news, Erik Shuelke, Eric White, and TJ Williams are all helping lead their AAU teams to victories in 17 U pool play in Orlando, Fla., in the national tournament. Each of them plays for a different team.

Weekend Update - Main Event in Las Vegas
Friday, July 25 - Julian Royal had 21 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Southern Stars 15 U AAU team to a seven point win in the championship round of 16; they advance to the round of 8 Saturday morning.

Saturday, July 26 - The Southern Stars advanced to the Final Four at the Main Event in Las Vegas over the weekend.  Many college coaches were in attendance.  The coaching staff at Milton is looking forward to seeing how far the Milton team can go this year.

Northside Ballers take Second

The Northside Ballers, a basketball team that includes several local players, reached the championship game of the recent Gulf Coast Challenge Championship in Orange Beach, Ala.
Invited to compete against teams from Georgia, Florida and Alabama, the Ballers were unbeaten until falling to the North Alabama Crusaders of Huntsville, Ala in the title contest. Victories included a win over the highly regarded Birmingham Stars who were ranked number one in the state of Alabama.

Members of the team, which practices out of  Chattahoochee High School, include juniors Ryan Jackson, Taj Owens and Cody Jackson of Chattahoochee; Shau Hubbard of Northview; Ryan Derreberry of Milton; and DeQuan Hutchins and Quayshawn Crockett of Alpharetta.
